Emily and Megan came over for a week, for my birthday. It was so nice catching up, and doing lots of sight seeing! We went for a walk at the Basin, in Launceston. Brrrr...nice fresh, crisp air!
and some hot chippies for lunch
"tee en beskuit"
We went for a drive out to Lillydale Falls, stopped here for devonshire tea, so good! It was a nice cosy place, with a crackling wood fire. Megan polished off the whole slice of brownie by herself! Josh isn't much of a cake eater, he said it was yuck. Strange child ;-).
the playgrounds wherever we stopped were always the highlight for the kids!
I love the scenery around Lillydale.
Then we went off to George to see the lighthouse.
It was blowing a gale, and f.r.e.e.z.i.n.g. We survived.
I crocheted a cowl for Megan
wow, Joshua sitting still and colouring in at the cafe. He picked up some good tips from Megan ;-).
City Park train ride - obviously a highlight for the kids! Maybe for Emily too, not sure. haha.
Joshua really enjoyed Megans company, kept him occupied. A real holiday for me!
Off to see some snow! We headed up to Poatina.
We found these huts in the bush, and stopped there for some lunch and coffee.
We kept warning the kids that "there might not be snow..." and by the time we got to the top, there wasn't any! We told them that the ice lying around was 'snow', they were happy with that, phew!
Reinier feeling bummed that we didn't have a lighter or any matches to light a fire.
The negative side of being a Quitter. ;-)
...but on the way back down the mountain, it started to snow!! Yippeee!!
Lallie, the 'eskimo boots' you gave me were such a life saver!! Thanks a million!!
this view reminded us of Africa, somewhere in the Drakensberge
