Marissa Kerkhoff turns 4!!

"Veels geluk liewe maatjie omdat jy verjaar..." Hip hip hooray!! Marissa turned 4 today! So we went there for coffee after church.
I dont feel like smiling...
AAUUGGHHHH!!! Pa decided to grow 'handel bars' it looks hilarious!

A Ghost??

Reinier being tricky with the camera again. Hans de Wit was the 'model'. I think it looks pretty cool! No idea how Reinier did it?!

Sunday lunch at the plot

We go to Pa's every second Sunday for lunch now. Every Tuesday night was just getting a bit much for everyone, especially with kiddies that have to go to school the next day! This gorgeous Impala baby was born this week. So cute... The Blesbok mummy also had a baby, but the Impala Buck killed it, such a pity. Bernhard saw it, and says "bokkie maak ander baba seer" shame, he was really upset.
Mr. duck going for a Sunday swim
Louis (from Ard & Marissa) looking all innocent!
Annelie - from Gerben & Anneke
Regardt concentrating very hard...
Reinier & Tante Jeanne deep in conversation
Anmari going fishing!! So cute, daddy's little girl...
Luhan - from Daan & Jessica. He is TOO CUTE! Such a happy, smily baby.
Just for interest, all four of my sister-in-laws had a baby in 2009. I'll have to get a photo of all the babies together soon!

Reiniers birthday

The birthday boy is 27! I bought him a years subscription to Weg, a 'broodpan' and a huge piece of biltong, should keep a man happy hey?? We are thankful to God for looking after him for another year.
If you're wondering why there are coals in the wheelbarrow, it was to bake bread in the new pan!
Reinier couldn't wait to try it out!
Perfecto!! A perfect bread, with a perfect peice of fillet. We just celebrated his birthday at home, because he had to study for exams the next day! (shame...) This dinner was better than eating out anyway!
The following night, we invited family & friends to come and celebrate. Regardt is growing fast!
Anneke & Annelie
Bernhard was 'sorting the chocolates'...and tasing a few before putting them back on the plate :-)

Makro lense

Reinier has been practising his photo skills with all sorts of lenses. I think this Makro photo is pretty good! He's been buying old lenses off e-bay and has found some real bargains! We bought an adaptor for our Canon camera, then you can attach old lenses. Its much much cheaper than buying new Canon lenses!

Voortrekker Monument.

We thought we'd be good tour guides and take Greg & Liana to the Voortrekker monument to learn a little bit about the history of South Africa.

Enjoying the view
There are amazing carvings all around the inside of the building. If you follow it around, it tells a story. Its so well done!
A huge old bible. I'm just very glad that we have 'smaller versions' these days!
An embroidery. There is a whole wall of these which also tells a story.
An old saddle. Amazing how they made things like this many years ago.
agg...
agggg...
We climbed to the top. You can see a wall of wagons carved into the wall around the monument. This symbolises a 'laager'. The voortrekkers would camp inside a ring of wagons at night for safety.
being silly...

Inside a Zulu hut.

Potjiekos

Robbert & I picked up Greg & Liana from the airport on Friday 6th November. They stayed with us for the weekend because Abbie & Mandie were away in Craddock for a Pecan Association meeting. I organised a Sunday Potjiekos lunch to welcome them, and invited some friends. We made a chicken potjie, it was really yummy! (Here I am being a good house wife. I cook & cook, and for fun I bake...ha!)
Reinier busy making the potjiekos, Robbert & Greg were keeping a good eye on things.
hmmm
Whats so funny Jesca?? Everyone enjoying the kuier.

Jesca (Boeties girlfriend) Johan Boersema, Robbert cooling off in the 'pool' and Cornelia.
Liana catching up with Clazina. (She is Dwayne Ballasts' girlfriend, seems like the Aussie men are popular?!)
Jesca looking very excited to get some food!!

Kruger!!!

Greg & Liana are here from America/ Australia:-)!! Abbie & Mandie had planned to take them to Kruger, but they couldn't make it at the last minute...so...I decided to join them! There was room for 5 people, so Gideon and Christiaan came along too. We had a really great time! Reinier couldn't join us because he as too busy at work, and also had a bachelors to go to. He was very jealous though! Below is a Klipspringer, you dont see them very often.
We stayed the first night in Pretoriuskop, it was really hot! You can see Greg being an American dork...ha!!
This huge lion was just chilling next to the road. Theres just something about those big yellow eyes...
Beautiful sunset
Relaxing after a nice swim

Hyena pups
STUPID TOURIST!!! They make me SO MAD!! There was a leopard in the tree, the lady climbed out, then the leopard jumped out of the tree. She spoiled it for everyone. Later on we saw these same tourists at a lookout spot where you can get out of the car. I couldn't help giving her "what for!..." (She was from Italy)
This lizzard was feeling a bit blue (bad joke...)

The next two nights we stayed at Skukuza in Safari Tents, it was excellent!!

too cute!
LEOPARDS!! We saw a mother leopard with two young ones. It looked liked they had just caught an Impala, and were probably resting after the chase. They hadn't started eating the Impala yet. This is a young one.
I'm tired!!
