granny stripes

I finally got around to making a big blanket for Joshua. Its super warm & heavy.
Its very grannie-ish. I suppose its the colours which make it look so old-fashioned. Joshuas not complaining. (hahaha)

Pattern is from Lucy - Attic24

Winter just got warmer.

Well, winter in our house just got a whole lot warmer. This blanket is BIG. and HEAVY - about 1.7kg. So glad I finished it just before cold weather starts to set in. We're all going to enjoy snuggling under it!

Miffy and another blanket!

Remember Miffy? Over here he is known as Nijntje. I made this as a baby toy/lappie.

Ripple blanket complete! For sale on my fb page "dinky-di crochet & crafts".

Next on my "to-do" list...a blanket for Joshua. Ripple or granny stripe?? hmmm. yet to decide.

and completely random: the most delicious lemon chicken ever. Ok, it looks much yummier after its cooked, but I forgot to take a photo. Far too hungry. Here is the recipe: Lemon Chicken

Love-heart blanket!
This one was made using "star stitch". It's really thick, but still soft.

lekker hekel!

had a lovely morning crocheting with friends Adelè, Riesl, Loma and Christelle Botha (from the fb page 'ons hekel'). Doesn't she have the most beautiful kitchen? We're getting together again tomorrow, cant wait! So much inspiration and ideas...and not enough time! We do far more chatting than crocheting by the way :-)

I made a nice warm beanie for Reinier. I mixed two yarns together, Elle Gold and Kismet Spice, so its extra thick. I've made a blue one for Joshua and a pink one for Kirsten too, they are so quick to make!

Is it really already June??

deary me *gasp* if its already JUNE, that means I'm nearly 30!! Auugghhh!!!

Well, here's a few photos to kick-start the month of June. I've completed a pretty pink Tulip baby blanket. (sorry, the light wouldn't co-operate with my camera)

this monkey climbs EVERYTHING, but he's more like a cat than a monkey, because I have to rescue him at least 5 times a day (climbs up, but cant get down).

He's determined to feed himself, lots of yucky messes to clean up (or we just call in Winston...shh!)

Gogo & another blanket finished

Joshua decided to help 'gogo' (Virginia) yesterday. When Joshua is naughty, she always tells him 'betha wena', but this time Joshua looks at Virginia and says 'betha wena' (I'll smack you in isiZulu, so cheeky!) He copies quite a few words she says, wouldn't it be great if he can learn THREE languages?! :-)

another baby blanket completed!! (still need to block it a bit to pull it into shape!)

 loving my labels!

I looked after Kirsten this morning, she was such a sweetie-pie!

ok Winston, how would you like your steak done? Or would you prefer boerewors?

braai salt?

baby blanket complete!

I love this baby blanket! I bought the pattern from Etsy, the designers name is creJJtion. I'm looking forward to making another one in different colours!

I managed to get hold of some Vinnis 100% cotton yarn. A lady in Capetown hand-dyes it. Its so beautiful and soft, perfect for baby things.

a new beanie pattern

I discovered this cute beanie pattern on Ravelry last week, and I just had to make one for Joshua. I think it looks so cute!! Its really soft & stretchy. Nice and warm for the coming winter. The pattern can be found here. I used a 6mm crochet hook.

more wool has been purchased...

this is for a large blanket for our bedroom, I LOVE the colours!! I'm hoping it will be finished by next years winter!!

Baby blanket finished

Well, I've finished my first big project, a baby blanket for my niece Kirsten. Her bedroom is gorgeous with red & pink (who would have thought?) so this blanket should fit in nicely. I still need to block this blanket and pull it into shape a bit! Its all made with Elle Gold wool, super soft! Oh, and pity I'm a shocking photographer, it looks beter in real, honest!
