check out za news y'all...

For those of you in South Africa who have to put up with watching E-NEWS, or maybe SABC 2 NEWS...where it always seems to be the same ...(crime, corruption, politics, and protests)... and when you're not really sure if the news has suddenly switched to a comedy movie, and then you realise, 'OH, it IS still the news!" this website will give you a good laugh, and is a great alternative to the usual news!! Julias Malema is a classic! http://www.zanews.co.za/. Enjoy.

a change is as good as a holiday...

After a total of 5 years working for Afrit, I decided to say goodbye to the 'van de Wetering clan'! I will definitely miss it. I decided its time that I didn't work so much, everything is always so busy and rushed. (you Aussies are probably wondering what I'm complaining about, I never even have to clean my house, thanks to Virginia!). Next year I'll be working for Gideon (a friend of ours) at the University of Pretoria. He does contract work for 'medical gas projects' for all the different campus' like the Vet (Onderstepoort) campus, the Medical campus, Dentist campus etc. I'll be helping him with all of his paperwork and job cards and things. I will just be working half day, so I'll have the afternoons off. **yay!!** That way I can also help Reinier with some of his paperwork, so he wont be so busy. AND I can get our home office organised! (ABOUT TIME!!). A while ago, our power went off in the evening, and Eskom asked Reinier 'what is your account number'? after a mad search in the dark through the house, we couldn't find our invoices for water & lights...so Reinier told them "I CANT SEE THE ACCOUNT NUMBER, ITS DARK!!". hmm...
Anyway, my last working day at Afrit will be the 11th December. I have been very blessed working for a great company who have always looked after me well!

Table & Chairs

I got carried away with my paintbrush again, and decided to paint the table & chairs on the stoep. What do you think?
I used high-gloss enamel paint which is good for outdoor furniture, you can just hose it down. Now I just have to look for some nice pot plants to put on it.

Summer is almost here!!

Reinier & Winston took a quick dip before church this morning, it was hot!
C'mon Bundi, it's fun!!
ok, thats enough now...
The view from my kitchen window, it looks so pretty
...and this
some more random photos of flowers

We enjoy this big Jacaranda tree, its on the side of the road near our house. All the Jacaranda trees are in flower along the roads now, it looks beautiful! Reinier should go and sit under one for a while, they say if a flower falls on your head, you will do good in your exams!
We went to Pa's house for a braai on Sunday, Mr. Goose keeping an eye on things...

hmmm, was that yummy Louis?!?
Me with chubby Luhan

Oysters & Wine

Reinier & I went with a bunch of friends to "Aardklop" in Potchefstroom. Aardklop is like a big "arty farty show", lots and lots of stalls with things to buy, anything from Dutch "Stroop Waffels" to handbags. Well anyway, the guys soon got tired of walking around and looking at things (they were quite patient though) we ended up getting stuck at the Wine Gardens. We ordered a dozen oysters and a few bottles of wine and enjoyed looking at all the weird & wonderful people walking by! Alot of "Denmark type people" one lady was wearing pajama pants with a top, classy!

Oysters anyone? YUM!
...some black pepper, a dash of tabasco
...squeeze some fresh lemon juice
...and GLOOP!

Deep Sea Fishing...

Reinier flew with Chris Brand and Robbert to East London in the Eastern Cape to go deep sea fishing. Raymond, one of our friends is living there for 7 months (because of a building contract) so they decided to take the opportunity to stay with him for a few days!
Reiniers famous lucky fishing hat...
Proud as punch with his new fishing reel (boys and their toys)...
All packed and ready to go. I dont have any more photos because Reinier didn't take the camera with him. But yes, incase you're wondering; there was "a big one that got away!!"...
