Caprivi / Okovango. Tiger Fishing.

My very spoilt husband got to go tiger fishing in the caprivi again this year. I was quite jealous! He didn't take many photos, this is all I could salvage off his camera :-). If you want more information, just google 'tiger fishing, okovango'.
(photo from google - huge teeth!)

crammed into their chartered aeroplane

the house boat, half the guys slept here, and the other half slept in safari tents on the banks of the river. It is such a beautiful region, I can just imagine how nice it must be at dusk, fishing off a boat in the river, and watching elephants on the river bank. aahhhh...

November

So, building work has started here!! We have cut off one corner of our property where the garage and 'buite kamer' was, and the builders have started building our flat! Its really exciting, I cant wait to see what it will look like when its all done. (wayyyy better, thats for sure!) They are working really fast, so it already looks alot different. Our property has three road fronts, so this will work perfectly to rent out, they will have their own driveway and complete privacy.

behind that wall where the building continues on, will become our store room. (my veggie garden is behind that wall if you remember the photos?!

play golf with me Pappa! We went to a driving range last week after work, Joshua thought it was the best thing ever! Now he keeps talking about golf. (at least its giving me a break from rugby and cricket!)

Movember #1

Kirstens 1'st birthday party! I baked and decorated 5 dozen cupcakes (yep, it was a big 'do' at Buffelsdrift with a spit braai and the works, about 60 of us!)

The icing was pure white chocolate ganache...m mm mmmmm

the theme was Vintage, so there was lots of doilies and ribbons and bunting etc, really cute! I made 6 large tissue-paper pom-poms to hang from the trees, and knocked up these pink meringues with glitter.

phew, that was a big job!

Movember #2

Virginia brought this little boy with her to work on Tuesday (I think its her sisters boy) his English name is Lian. They played so nicely together, and it was really funny to listen to! Lian only speaks Sotho and Joshua only speaks Afrikaans with a little bit of English mixed in; but they seemed to understand each other perfectly!!

we are family

Ma Marijke's sister, Tante Heleen came to visit, she lives in Holland. It was nice catching up with her, and on Saturday we all got together for a kuier and potjie. We were all under the lapa near the swimming pool when a massive storm hit! So we had to pack everything up and move to the house.
Needless to say; IT WAS VERY NOISY WITH A THUNDERSTORM OUTSIDE AND A ZOO INSIDE!!!

We attempted a few photos with the kiddies, man, what fun! ;-). There are five missing here too, couldn't find them, haha!!

I love how Jean-Marie is trying to hide behind the book!

Stop it Bernhard, I'm trying to read!

lighting DIY

So, it was RT-far-T here at our house again last night, the theme was lighting DIY. Sjoe, once you start browing pinterest or just googling, there are endless ideas!

I bought a chinese lantern and lots of cupcake liners and glued them on. Its fun and really cheap! I just didn't have enough to finish it off, and I cant wait to see what it looks like with the light on!

Tanya made this one for her little girl anri. Its super cute, and also really easy.

annelieke made this one, it was alot of work wrapping all that string around!
