Our gardener Markus said to me yesterday morning "Missus, vandag soek ek die koek of 'n paar cookies, ek verjaar vandag, 46 years!"
(Mrs. today I want some cake or cookies, its my b'day, I'm 46!)
So, I bought a cake, Virginia made icing and I wrote his name on the cake. We sang happy birthday to him in English, Afrikaans and Sotho (well, Virginia did). He just couldn't stop grinning and said he couldn't wait to bring a piece home for his little boy.
I'm sure I planted "baby marrows"?? This is what we found when we got back from holidays! Normally baby marrows are quite small and dark green, you buy them in a pack of 6. Sort of like mini zuchini! Now Joshua calls them "monster marrows!"
