the road trip continues

We drove through a place called Kakamas which looked really interesting, so we decided to stay for a few days at a place called Khamkirri.
Salt pans
This was the weirdest thing to see, Vineyards in the middle of the desert! (Only in South Africa!)

Reinier chatting to Dad just after setting up camp on the banks of the Orange River
What a fantastic place to camp!
The resteraunt area
Wathup?
Reinier going for a swim. No crocs here apparently :-)
Die Pienk Padstal (The Pink Road Stall) is run by coloured women, really interesting to sniffle around here
I agree!

All sorts of old things each have a story, its really funny!
to the ladies bathroom, what an appropriate sign! :-)

An interesting water wheel in one of the vineyards

Mickey & Minnie
A quiver tree
Yes, this is a soccer field! No grass in sight. There were three little coloured children on the other side doing all sorts of funny poses for the camera! I didn't have the big lense on, so I could't zoom in, pity!
We stopped at the Orange River vineyard. Here I am about to take the grapes into the processing plant on my tractor. Its hard work.

*hic hic* giggle giggle... I love listening to the coloured people talk, everything they say just sounds funny. All the vine yards farmers in the area bring their grapes here to be processed. We asked the lady there what if their grapes aren't good enough to be bottled? She said "ag, dan maak ons die 'ma-slaan-vir-pa-wyn' en gee dit sommer vir die tuin boys". Ha!
Young Wildebees eating some nice green grass at the campsite.

I hired a life jacket, walked up river and floated back down to the camp. Fantastic!!
Always time for some serious fishing
the best bait!
...and it works too! Reinier caught quite a few of these Yellow Fish.
